Disaster Recovery Calculator
Have you determined your Restore Point Objective (RPO) and the Restore Time Objective (RTO) you want and can afford. RPO is your tolerance for how much data you can afford to lose. If you need to have your last transaction for your recovery, you will need an expensive high availability software package copying each transaction to a remote location throughout the day. If you can afford to lose up to a day’s work, you can deploy a much less expensive solution that saves data at night or at intervals during the day. RTO is your tolerance for how long you can be down. If you need to recover within an hour you will need a large investment in redundant hardware. If you can wait for several hours you can rely on a less expensive off-site service with remote recovery.
The RPO for this caclulator is 15 minutes.
The RTO for this calculator is 3 hours.
